Kingston debuts for Laois as Quigley returns

Laois minor star Donie Kingston will make his senior championship debut for the O'Moore men on Saturday night against Longford at Pearse Park, throw-in 7pm.

For the first round All-Ireland qualifier, Laois manager Liam Kearns has made five changes to the team that lost to Wexford in the Leinster championship last month.

Kingston has featured for Laois at both minor and Under-21 levels this year, and was a part of the side that won the Leinster minor title in 2007.

The Barrowhouse attacker will start at left corner-forward on Saturday in place of Emo's Paul Lawlor, who was substituted during Laois' defeat to Wexford.

Meanwhile, the O'Moores have been handed a further boost with the news that towering midfielder Brendan Quigley is fit to start, having recovered from a work-related injury.

Quigley fell through a skylight in the lead-up to the Leinster quarter-final against Wicklow but has now made a full recovery and he will partner John O'Loughlin at midfield.

Quigley replaces Kevin Meaney at midfield, while there are two changes in defence with Cathal Ryan and Peter O'Leary starting at the expense of Mark Timmons and 2003 All Star Joe Higgins.

Along with Kingston being added to the Laois forwards, Barry Brennan also returns to the half-forward line in place of Billy Sheehan.

LAOIS (SFC v Longford) - M Nolan; C Healy, D Rooney, C Ryan; P O'Leary, T Kelly, P McMahon; B Quigley, J O'Loughlin; R Munnelly, B Brennan, B McCormack; MJ Tierney, C Parkinson, D Kingston.
