Dillon returns for Mayo

A fit-again Alan Dillon has been recalled to the Mayo team for Sunday's Connacht SFC final showdown with Galway (Castlebar, throw-in 2pm).

Mayo manager John O'Mahony has made just one change to the side that beat Sligo, last year's champions, by 3-11 to 0-07 at the semi-final stage.

Dillon, who played in a challenge match against Fermanagh last week, comes in for Peadar Gardiner at right half-forward.

The 2006 All-Star was ruled out of the Sligo game after undergoing minor surgery to treat a haematoma in his hip, but has been passed fit for the final.

Mayo's defence remains the same although a number of switches are expected depending on how Galway line out. The Tribesmen will confirm their team tonight.

Mayo go into the decider without Barry Moran as a back-up forward.

The Castlebar Mitchels clubman, who starred in last year's championship against Cavan and Derry, broke a bone in his hand while training with the Mayo panel last Sunday.

This is the seventh successive year that Mayo and Galway have clashed in the championship.

Mayo, who last won the final in 2006, are chasing their third Connacht title of the decade while Galway, who last won in 2005, are bidding for their fifth.

Interestingly, Mayo have not scored a goal against Galway in any of their last five championship games. However, they still managed to win two of them.

The sides have already met in competitive action this year - Galway won by 2-09 to 1-11 at Castlebar in April in a National League tie.

MAYO (SFC v Galway) - D Clarke; K Higgins, K Conroy, C Boyle; T Cunniffe, D Heaney, J Nallen; R McGarrity (capt), T Parsons; A Dillon, P Harte, T Mortimer; C Mortimer, A O'Malley, A Moran.
