Sligo footballers relegated to Division 4

A goal from second-half substitute Francie Martin condemned Sligo to Division 4 football for next year as Longford won today's keenly contested affair at Pearse Park.

Despite Sligo holding a 0-04 to 0-02 lead at the end of the opening quarter, a Brian Kavanagh point ensured parity at the interval at 0-07 apiece.

The sides continued to remain deadlocked in the third quarter of this relegation dogfight, but Longford had the final say with Martin's goal helping the hosts hold on.
