Division four wins for Waterford and Tipperary

Waterford 1-13 Clare 0-10, Dungarvan

Waterford, minus the influential Gary Hurney, claimed a six-point win over Clare at Fraher Field today in a keenly contested NFL encounter.

This win was not easy for the Deise and it took a 67th-minute penalty from top scorer Connie Power (1-9) to seal the issue.

Clare held a 0-7 to 0-6 lead at half-time thanks to good work up front from Rory Hickey and David Tubridy.

Although the sides were level four times in the second half, Waterford pulled away at the end for their second win of the league campaign.

Tipperary 1-23 London 0-4, Ardfinnan

Tipperary's footballers maintained their third place position in Division Three thanks to this comfortable victory over the Exiles at Ardfinnan.

John Evans' charges always looked in control and were never troubled as they held the lead throughout the 70 minutes.

A Barry Grogan goal gave the hosts a 1-07 to 0-02 interval advantage and they never looked back with Grogan standing out.

The corner forward finished with a personal tally of 1-09, following an impressive display from his side.

Wicklow 2-34 Kilkenny 0-5, Aughrim

Kilkenny slumped to their worst defeat of this year's NFL campaign with Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow side having 35 points to spare at Aughrim.

Wicklow looked dead-set winners early on and goals from Sean Furlong (11 minutes) and Dean Odlum (28) helped them to a 2-13 to 0-2 half-time lead.

Although Eddie Brennan tried hard for the Cats, O'Dwyer's side failed to let up and eased to their second league win, having already beaten Waterford.
