Carlow battle to win over Clare

Clare had three players sent off as Carlow began their Allianz NFL Division Four campaign with a battling win at Miltown Malbay.

Clare's Gordon Kelly, Niall Considine and David Russell were all dismissed during a closely fought second half.

John Murphy and Ray Walker nudged Carlow into a 0-2 to 0-0 lead but Clare, aided by the free-scoring David Tubridy, led 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time.

The red cards for Kelly and Considine were followed by Eric McCormack's 55th-minute goal which teed up Carlow for this victory.
