Limerick earn tight win over Louth
LIMERICK 1-10 LOUTH 0-9
Beaten McGrath Cup finalists Limerick edged out Louth on the opening day of action in NFL Division Three.
Kieran O'Callaghan kicked four frees and Diarmuid Phelan punched home a 35th-minute goal, after a John Galvin assist, as Limerick took a 1-7 to 0-3 lead into the second half at Pairc na nGael.
Louth improved on the restart with Darren Clarke and Michael Fanning getting into the game.
But two excellent points from Stephen Lavin, including a score off a 70-metre run, helped the Shannonsiders stay ahead.
