Kildare 1-9 Louth 0-7

Kildare secured their second win under new manager Kieran McGeeney at Newbridge today to progress through to the O'Byrne Shield final.

The Lilywhites grabbed the all-important goal in the 23rd-minute when just as he attempted to gather a long ball into the square, Louth defender John Neary knocked it off his own crossbar and James Kavanagh was on hand to flick to the net.

Louth made the better start with Ray Finnegan firing over in the third-minute. The hosts took their time to settle and they hit seven wides before levelling the game on the quarter-hour.

Yet McGeeney's men took a 1-4 to 0-3 lead into the second half and they saw out the win with Killian Brennan and Padraig Mullarkey edging the midfield battle.
