Medial ligament tear for Dublin's Cahill
2007 All Star defender Barry Cahill is to miss the opening two games of Dublin's National Football League campaign following confirmation that he has a sustained a medial ligament tear.
Cahill injured his knee during the recent Dubs Stars match and a scan has shown up a grade one tear. The St Brigid's clubman will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Dublin's first outing in NFL Division Two is a home tie on February 2 against Westmeath, also their opponents in this weekend's O'Byrne Cup quarter-finals, while Cahill will also miss the trip to Cork on February 16.
The 26-year-old half-back is hoping to be available for the third round game against Cavan in Kingspan Breffni Park on March 1.
