Mark Foley has been confirmed as the new captain of the Limerick senior hurling team.

Foley, who previously captained the county side in the 2002 and 2003 seasons, is entering his 14th season with the Shannonsiders.

The 33-year-old has been nominated as captain by his club, Adare, who claimed the county championship in November by defeating Croom.

Meanwhile, Johnny Murphy is the new Limerick football captain after being nominated by his club, Ballylanders.

Murphy returned to Mickey Ned O'Sullivan's panel this year after taking a year out in 2007.
