Hurling to debut on PlayStation 2
Sony Computer Entertainment Ireland (SCEI) today announced that 'Gaelic Games: Hurling' will make its debut exclusively on PlayStation 2 on Friday.
'Gaelic Games: Football 2' will also be available.
Developers IrGurus claim that 'Gaelic Games: Hurling' embodies the passion and excitement of the real thing.
Gamers can play a single game, or follow a full GAA season, including the National Hurling League, Provincial and All-Ireland Hurling Championships, Nicky Rackard and Christy Ring Cups.
'Gaelic Games: Football' returns for its second instalment with new physics and player movement animations.
The game also features a brand new passing, tackling and scoring system, along with 11 photo realistic stadiums including Croke Park, O'Moore Park, Semple Stadium, Casement Park and Pearse Stadium.
Gaelic Games features full commentary from Micheál O'Muircheartaigh and will also support EyeToy: Cameo.
"The GAA is delighted to welcome for the first time in its history the licensing of a hurling computer game," said GAA president Nicky Brennan.
"The promotion of Gaelic sports is, and always has been the raison d'etre for the GAA and what better way to get our national games into the mindset of the population than through the vehicle of PlayStation.
"We are delighted to work with Sony as they strive to bring two of Ireland's national sports to a medium that many individuals can enjoy."
