Carr gets another year at Down helm
As expected, Ross Carr was ratified last night for his second year of a three-year term as Down senior football manager.
The Clonduff man was put forward by the County Executive, who met last week, as their sole nominee for the job.
A statement from the Down County Board confirmed: "The Down County Committee, at its August monthly meeting, re-appointed Ross Carr as manager of the Down senior football team for the incoming year.
"Carr who was appointed manager last year, will once again be assisted by DJ Kane, Declan Mussen and Michael Doyle."
There were encouraging signs for the Mourne men during Carr's first season in charge, despite some poor results and the progress of a number of young players had given the management hope for the future.
Number one on Carr's list of things to do in 2008 will be for Down to gain promotion out of National League Division Three, following their relegation from Division 1B this season.
