Westmeath hurlers to take part in Leinster SHC next year
Westmeath hurlers will be permitted to take part in next year’s Leinster Hurling Championship.
Darren McCormack, captain of the Westmeath team that won the Christy Ring Cup in Croke Park, pleaded with the GAA authorities to allow his team play in next year’s Leinster championship.
However, Leinster PRO Tom Farrell confirmed after the game that Westmeath are already scheduled to take part in the competition.
This means that Westmeath will be able to play in the Christy Ring Cup and the provincial championship, a dual status that Armagh also enjoy.
