Dublin County Board to appeal Carton ban
The Dublin County Board have confirmed they will appeal the eight-week suspension which Under-21 and senior hurler Peadar Carton has been hit with.
Carton received the suspension following an incident during Dublin's All-Ireland SHC qualifier defeat to Tipperary on July 7. A wild and dangerous pull by Carton on Paul Curran left the Tipp defender with a broken jaw, missing teeth and a sore neck.
Tipp manager Michael 'Babs' Keating described it as "the ugliest injury" he had seen.
Dublin are anxious to appeal the ban as Carton was one of the heroes of last Wednesday's Leinster Under-21 hurling final win over Offaly. The O'Tooles clubman scored 1-2 in the Metropolitans' first U-21 provincial success since 1972.
As it stands, the ban would rule Carton out of the conclusion of the All-Ireland U-21 championship. The Dubs are next in action on either August 18 or 19 against the Ulster champions.
