McCready to start for Donegal

Aodh Ruadh defender Niall McCready has been named in the Donegal team for tomorrow's All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier clash with Westmeath (Mullingar, throw-in 7pm).

In the only change manager Brian McIver has made to the side that beat Leitrim after extra-time, McCready comes in at left half-back with Paddy McConigley the player to make way.

Brendan Devenney holds onto the left corner forward position despite not being able to train with the panel on Tuesday night.

McIver is again without the services of Colm McFadden, whose suspension expires on Sunday, and the injured Barry Dunnion, Ciaran Bonner and Brian Roper - although Bonner, who returned to training this week after suffering a broken nose, could yet make the substitutes bench.

Former All-Star Adrian Sweeney, who has settled his differences with McIver after refusing to travel with the county squad to the Leitrim game, looks set to continue his role as an impact sub.

Heartened by last week's character-building win, McIver said: "We're expecting another big test against Westmeath who, like ourselves, got their season back on track against Longford last Saturday.

"There is a lot at stake for both teams in this game, and I'm expecting a very competitive and exciting encounter. I'm confident the Donegal supporters will travel in force to Mullingar, and their encouragement would be a major help, and could swing the game in our favour."
