Following a break of almost a month the Gala All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship returns this weekend as the reigning champions Cork travel to the west to take on Galway.

Holders Cork have had a tough start to their campaign. After their victory over Wexford in the National League Final they started the championship with a ten-point defeat to the Model county at home the following weekend.

The Rebellettes bounced back two weeks later when they traveled to Tipperary to take on their great rivals. John Cronin’s side recorded a 4 point win over Tipp to get the Leesiders back on track in the Championship.

Galway also began their league campaign with a defeat. The Tribeswomen took on last year’s beaten finalist Tipperary in their first match and lost by four points.

They only had a week to wait to banish memories of that loss as they took on Kilkenny in Galway.

They went on to defeat the Cats by eight points that day and now sit just ahead of Cork in the table on points difference.

However Galway will find it tough against the holders this weekend and will have to be on very top form if they are to get anything out of the game. Cork will be looking to get to keep their progress going after the win against Tipperary and look likely to register a second successive victory on Sunday.
