Garvan to miss out for Laois
Laois manager Liam Kearns is "not expecting" midfielder Noel Garvan to be fit for his side's Leinster SFC semi-final clash with Wexford on Sunday week.
Garvan, who started at centre-field in Laois' quarter-final win over Longford, damaged ligaments and tendons in his ankle at a training session.
He is just off crutches but with time running out before the Wexford game, it seems Kearns will have to do without the big St. Joseph's clubman.
"It is going to be touch and go with Noel now but we will not be expecting him to play (against Wexford)," Kearns told the Laois Nationalist.
Nonetheless, the fit-again Tom Kelly, Joe Higgins and Barry Brennan should all return for the July 1 tie, while Billy Sheehan is due back at training next week after time out with a hamstring injury.
Brennan lined out at full-forward for Laois in their 3-12 to 0-12 challenge match defeat to Mayo last weekend.
Padraig Clancy and Brendan Quigley were pitched together in midfield for the Mayo game and the Timahoe pair should link up again at centre-field against Wexford, with Garvan almost certainly ruled out.
