Flynn returns for Waterford

Paul Flynn will make his long-awaited return to the Waterford team for Sunday's Munster SHC semi-final clash with Cork (Semple Stadium, throw-in 4pm).

Flynn comes in for Shane Walsh at full-forward in the only change manager Justin McCarthy has made to the Waterford side that triumphed over Kilkenny in last month's National League final.

Ballygunner forward Flynn has proven his fitness in recent weeks after a long road to recovery from a groin operation. Three weeks ago, he made his first start for Waterford in nine months in the 1-15 to 1-14 challenge match win over Wexford at Kilgobinet.

The 32-year-old former captain has also seen action in the club championship and will hope to rediscover some of his old form as the Deise look for their first championship win over Cork since 2004. Flynn's inclusion sees Dan Shanahan move from the full-forward line to right half-forward.

Waterford's preparations for the championship included a week-long training stint in the Algarve last month.

Cork may have won the last three championship matches between the sides, but Waterford gained some revenge by beating the Rebels twice during this year's National League - 0-16 to 0-12 during Division 1A's regulation phase and 1-19 to 1-16 at the semi-final stage.

WATERFORD (SHC v Cork) - C Hennessy; E Murphy, D Prendergast, J Murray; T Browne, K McGrath, A Kearney; M Walsh (capt), S Molumphy; D Shanahan, S Prendergast, E Kelly; J Kennedy, P Flynn, J Mullane.
