O’Hara the main concern for Sligo

Talismanic midfielder Eamon O'Hara is Sligo's main injury concern ahead of their Connacht SFC clash with Roscommon on Sunday.

O'Hara, who was an All-Star back in 2002, is in danger of missing the Hyde Park tie due to a hamstring injury he picked up in training last week.

Sligo were close to full-strength for their championship opener against New York last month but the injuries have been mounting up for the Yeats men in recent weeks.

As well as O'Hara, Padraic Doohan (calf), Conor McGowan (hamstring), Fergus Horan (calf), Karol O'Neill (groin) and Johnny Martyn (groin) are all currently on the treatment table, although O'Neill and Martyn are both nearing full fitness.

Meanwhile, veteran forward Paul Taylor has joined his younger brother Tony on the sidelines. Paul, whose scoring helped Sligo beat Roscommon in the 1997 Connacht semi-final, damaged his medial knee ligaments whilst playing for Eastern Harps in a club game last month.

Midfielder Tony Taylor has been ruled out of action since sustaining a knee tendon injury in April.

Ahead of his team announcement tonight, Sligo boss Tommy Breheny commented on the injury situation.

"Unfortunately Eamon is doubtful at this stage due to a hamstring injury," he said. "We are monitoring the situation very closely but it doesn’t look like he’ll be fit for the game.

"Naturally he’d be a major loss if he doesn’t make it because he is such an influential player but unless he’s match fit, he won’t be taking part.

"We have a number of options open to us and we will start what we believe will be a side that will represent the county well," he told the Western People.

"Beyond that we can't say and as we all know it's all on the day.

"If we start well and build up some confidence early on we will be in with a real chance and I_m optimistically confident that if we play to our capabilities we can win."
