Board prepare player defence
A six-man committee has been put in place by the Cork County Board to deal with the fallout from the events last Sunday week at Semple Stadium.
Four Cork hurlers and four from Clare have been cited by the Central Control Competitions Committee in Croke Park (CCCC) in relation to incidents before the game started.
One-month suspensions have been proposed by that body.
The issue will be dealt with on Thursday night by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) at headquarters and they can uphold or alter the proposal from the CCCC. If they uphold the original decision the players can then move on to the CAC (Central Appeals Committee) to have their cases heard.
If they fail there, the Disputes Resolution Authority, (DRA) could be the last port of call in their efforts to have the suspensions lifted.
Cork are strenuously opposing the suspension proposals and the €10,000 fine imposed on the board and the six-man committee, believed to consist of players, management and county board members, are studying all aspects of the case and constructing their defence.
