Ulster SFC quarter-final postponed

This afternoon's Ulster SFC quarter-final between Antrim and Derry has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Casement Park.

Heavy rain left pools of water on the Belfast pitch and worsened the conditions for the Ulster senior hurling final, which threw in at 2.15pm.

Despite the unseasonal weather, that match was played out in full with Antrim emerging as easy 2-24 to 0-4 winners over Down.

But the second game of the planned double-header - the Antrim v Derry football tie which had a 4.15pm start - was postponed by Meath referee Cormac Reilly after a pitch inspection, carried out following the hurling tie.

Reilly and Ulster Council officials walked the pitch and deemed it unplayable.

The Antrim v Derry SFC game has been rescheduled for next Sunday afternoon at Casement Park, with a 3.30pm throw-in. There will be no admission charge to the venue for the fixture.
