Fitzgerald chosen as Galway football captain

Kieran Fitzgerald will captain Galway in this summer's championship, following Corofin's decision, as county champions, to hand the honour to the experienced full-back.

An All-Ireland and All-Star winner in 2001, Fitzgerald will lead Galway into battle this Sunday when they clash with Mayo in their Connacht SFC opener at Pearse Stadium.
