Former GAA president Con Murphy has died, it was announced today.

Former GAA president Con Murphy has died, it was announced today.

During an illustrious playing career, he won four All Ireland hurling titles with Cork - including three in a row in 1942, 1943 and 1944 - and was a team-mate of Jack Lynch and Christy Ring.

Con Murphy was elected president of the GAA in 1976 and served for three years.

He was 84 years old.
