Victory for Wexford in camogie league
Wexford made a tremendous start to their Division 1A National Camogie League campaign at Piercestown today.
Goals in either half from Michelle Hearn were to prove decisive as a Jim Kielty Wexford claimed a rare 2-4 to 0-9 victory over All-Ireland champions Cork.
Wexford held a slender 1-1 to 0-3 interval lead and despite Jennifer O’Leary helping execute a comeback from the Rebels with four second half points, a late save from Wexford goalkeeper Margaret Darcy ensured a Wexford victory.
Cork B’s made up for the disappointment of their A counter by snatching a 2-6 to 2-5 win against Wexford with a 45th minute goal from Hazel O’Regan they decisive score.
