Cork's Mary O'Connor appointed director of camogie

Cork camogie player Mary O'Connor has been announced today as the Camogie Association's new Director of Camogie.

O'Connor has been working with the Camogie Association since 2005 as regional development co-ordinator.

Prior to this she had worked as a GAA coaching and development officer in East Cork and as the GAA games and promotions officer with Limerick IT.

Her new role as director of camogie will involve driving the development of the game and maximising participation at all levels.

She will work to develop effective coaching and refereeing structures in line with the Association's strategic plan.

It will see her take charge of two regional development co-ordinators, which will rise to five in the coming months due to recent funding from the Irish Sports Council, in promoting and developing camogie nationwide.

O'Connor's record on the field is second to none. She is one of only two women to have won an All-Star Award in both Camogie and Ladies Football.
