Three-goal second half sees Offaly take revenge

Offaly 3-12 Carlow 1-8

Offaly grabbed their first win of the new league campaign as Sean Ryan, Karol Slattery and Neville Coughlan all netted in a today's win over Carlow.

The Faithfuls found the net three times in the second half in Tullamore to erase memories of last week's defeat to Leitrim.

Offaly led 1-07 to 1-06 at half-time, and Ryan (47 minutes) and Slattery (53) capitalised on errors in the Carlow defence to grab their goals.

A Simon Rea penalty cut the gap to four points for the visitors.

Carlow had midfielder Ronan McGrath dismissed for a second yellow card, but Coughlin's rifled shot, allied to points from Kenneth Casey, Niall McNamee and Ryan saw Offaly finish as comfortable winners.
