Longford rocketed to the top of the NFL Division 2A table as they blew London apart in a 5-19 to 0-8 win at Pearse Park this afternoon.

The entire Longford attack got their names on the scoresheet in this completely one-sided encounter.

The out-classed visitors ended up trailing 2-12 to 0-2 at the break with Paul Barden (27 minutes) and Padraig Berry (30 minutes) getting the goals for the rampant home side.

Niall Clinton fired over the first-half points for London, who added another four scores to their tally in the third quarter through Andy Gallagher (0-2), Paul O'Donoghue and Eamon Brennan, but this brief rally counted for nothing when Trevor Smullen struck to score a third goal for Longford in the 48th minute.

That left Luke Dempsey's men leading 3-15 to 0-6. Things went from bad to worse for London, who conceded another two goals and four points during the remainder of this mis-match watched by a few hundred spectators.

David Barden (0-2), Smullen and Brian Kavanagh, with his fourth point, shot over the bar while the always-dangerous Barden brothers (Paul finished with 2-2 while David tallied up 1-3) found the back of the London net in the closing minutes as lively Longford gave their points difference a massive boost.
