Laois and Offaly to meet in O'Byrne Cup semi

Laois and Offaly have set up a local derby in the O'Byrne Cup semi-final after their wins today.

Offaly were 2-13 to 1-8 winners over DIT while Laois beat Louth by 13 points to 12.

In the O'Byrne Shield, Longford easily disposed of UCD on a 2-16 to 10 point scoreline.

Also through are Kildare - they ran out 3-9 to 1-11 winners over Meath.

Tyrone emerged as easy winners over great rivals Derry in the Dr McKenna Cup this afternoon - the final score at Omagh - Tyrone 1-15 Derry 9 points.

Elsewhere, Donegal beat Antrim, while Jordanstown shocked Down running out easy 1-19 to 1-6 winners.

Paidi O'Se's tenure as Clare manager has begun on a disappointing note - the Banner losing to UL by 1-11 to 8 points in the McGrath Cup quarter finals.

Cork beat Cork IT by 3-10 to 1-09 in Pairc Um Rinn.

Thirty minutes of extra time couldn't separate Tipperary and Limerick but a further ten saw Limerick run out - 1-11 to 1-14 victors.

While in Dungarvan, Waterford IT were no match for UCC - 5-09 to 0-07 was how it finished.

In Connacht the FBD Insurance League saw wins for Roscommon over NUIG, Galway over Leitrim while Sligo beat GMIT.
