Donaghy: Team makes me look good

Kerry full forward Kieran Donaghy has today insisted that his teammates are largely responsible for making him look good.

Kerry full forward Kieran Donaghy has today insisted that his teammates are largely responsible for making him look good.

“It’s a great team game first and foremost,” he said. “The ball coming in from the boys is magnificent. Daragh (O Sé) and Tommy Griffin are doing great in midfield

“I think Tommy’s having a great year, he’s not getting enough praise as he should be. I think he’s a great talent, he’s a very hard worker. He’s a good jumper and a good passer as well.”

The former basketball player and star of RTÉ’s The Underdogs also gave credit to the quality forwards around him.

“Then you have three class forwards on the half forward line who can all put in a ball on either leg,” he continued.

“So we’re getting great supply, all we’re trying to do, is do our best with it. My main objective is to get the ball and give it to the two footballers who are around me.

“The likes of Mike Frank Russell and Gooch, I wouldn’t think of shooting if either of them were around me with and had a chance to shoot. It’d be almost 90% certain they’d put it over.

“With me, I don’t know what percentage it would be, but I’d rather give it to the sure option.”
