Double header delights camogie chief
The staging of the Gala All-Ireland Senior Camogie final together with the Erin All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling final is a dream come true for Camogie Association President Liz Howard.
The two ties take place as a Croke Park double header on Sunday with the Under-21 decider between Kilkenny and Tipperary throwing in at 1.30pm and camogie's battle royal between Cork and Tipperary getting underway at 3.30pm.
Howard, talking at the final's press day, said: "Cork and Tipperary have produced wonderful camogie in the All-Ireland finals for the past few years. I expect another skilful, highly competitive game this year. It’s a hard one to call.
"Playing the camogie final and the Under-21 hurling final as a double header brings the best of the hurling family together on this occasion."
This is the first year of Gala's sponsorship of the All-Ireland Senior Camogie championship.
Gala Chief Executive Tom Keogh explained: "This has been a tremendous inaugural year for our sponsorship. The relationship is one that has really captured the hearts and minds of our retailers and shoppers and we hope that our support has made this a special year for the championship.
"It has been a joy to work with all of the team at the Camogie Association. We look forward to a great final - good luck to both teams.”
