Leitrim make Tommy Murphy final
TOMMY MURPHY CUP SEMI-FINAL:
Leitrim 2-12 Carlow 0-08
Second-half goals from Donal Brennan and Ciarán Duignan ensured Leitrim's passage into the Tommy Murphy Cup final on August 27.
Two late Alan Kelly points saw Carlow, who hit the post early on, reduce the gap to 0-8 to 0-5 by the break in Birr. Corner-forward Duignan (0-2) led the Leitrim scoring in the opening period.
After Leitrim 'keeper Cathal McCrann had foiled Mark Carpenter, Dessie Dolan Sr's side made the goal breakthrough in the 59th minute when full-forward Brennan rammed home.
Duignan, set up by substitute Declan Maxwell, grabbed the second right on full-time to set up a Leitrim-Louth final.
