Foley and Farrelly win inaugural GPA awards

Limerick's Mark Foley and Louth's Martin Farrelly have won the first honours to be given out under a new awards scheme set up by the Gaelic Players Association.

Limerick's Mark Foley and Louth's Martin Farrelly have won the first honours to be given out under a new awards scheme set up by the Gaelic Players Association.

Foley was today named hurler of the month, while Farrelly was named footballer of the month.

The Opel-sponsored award scheme has been established to rival the GAA's All-Star Player of the Month awards, which are sponsored by Vodafone.
