Whelan fit for Longford tie

Dublin midfielder Ciarán Whelan has been passed fit for next Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final against Longford (Pearse Park, throw-in 2.30pm).

The Raheny clubman tweaked his hamstring during a challenge match against Tipperary last week but has since returned to full training.

Whelan's shoulder has also recovered from the joint damage he picked up against Mayo in the National League in March. He missed the Dubs' last competitive outing, a 0-13 to 0-13 draw with Kerry on April 9.

Dublin manager Paul Caffrey will put his players through their paces at training tonight before naming his starting line-up.

Kilmacud defender Paul Griffin is available for selection after shaking off a shoulder injury. His clubmate Ray Cosgrove may have played his way into contention, kicking a handsome 0-10 (3f) in Kilmacud's league win over Trinity Gaels on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, three Dublin senior panelists have been named in the capital's junior side for tomorrow night's Leinster JFC quarter-final against Wexford at Parnell Park (7.30pm).

Midfielder Denis Bastick and defenders Donnacha Reilly and Colin Prenderville have been included. Keith Gorman, a former senior panelist, starts in goal while Graham Cullen, the older brother of Bryan, is in at full-forward.

DUBLIN (JFC v Wexford): K Gorman; A Daly, C McCormack, AN Other; Donnacha Reilly, K Kavanagh, C Prenderville; D Bastick, C Daly; P Whelan, K McMenamon, Danny Reilly; P Lawless, G Cullen, E Kinsella.
