Shock New York victory presents new problems
New York 1-18 Derry 1-12
Next month’s Ulster SHC final could be in some doubt after New York battled to a surprise win over Derry at Gaelic Park tonight.
Monty Moloney’s side earned a six-point semi-final win thanks mainly to Michael ‘Bonny’ Kennedy’s second half goal.
It is understood that New York may not travel to the June 4 final against Antrim due to visa problems some of their players may encounter on re-entering the United States.
Gary Biggs goaled for Derry, who led by two points at the break. However Kennedy, an All-Ireland medalist with the Tipperary minors, struck the decisive blow for the Exiles.
