End of the road for Tyrone

Mayo 1-08 Tyrone 0-11, Castlebar

Tyrone’s league run came to an end at Castlebar as Mayo secured the point they needed for a semi-final berth.

The westerners will face neighbours Galway in the last four after today’s stalemate. Tyrone’s Stephen O’Neill had a late free chance to win it but he played it short into the hands of Mayo’s Austin O’Malley.

A Peadar Gardiner goal helped fire Mayo in front, but five successive Tyrone points had the sides level at half time (1-04 to 0-07).

Tyrone went three points up but had to rally at the end with Conor Gormley replying to a four-point Mayo burst.
