Derry lost for the second successive weekend as a late Liam Doyle free saw Down triumph at Ballinascreen.

The Mourne men, whose fourth win moves them into second Division 1B, were 0-08 to 0-06 up at half-time. They kicked three of the half’s final four points through Ambrose Rodgers, Eoin McCartan and Ronan Murtagh.

In a game in which the lead changed five times, Derry snapped back in the second half. Between them, Paddy and Eoin Bradley hit four points without reply for the Oak Leafers, but overs from Michael Walsh and Doyle (free) saw the decision go to Down.
