Tyrone produce stunning turnaround
Tyrone 1-15 Monaghan 1-13
All-Ireland champions Tyrone produced a stunning turnaround to deny Monaghan a famous Healy Park win.
In a repeat of last month’s Dr McKenna Cup final, Tyrone ended the first half with a 0-07 to 0-06 buffer. Stephen O’Neill hit four of their scores.
But three points from substitute Paul McGuigan and a Tommy Freeman goal helped Monaghan storm into a 1-11 to 0-07 lead. Staring at a third league defeat, Tyrone introduced midfielder Sean Cavanagh for the final quarter, and a scoring burst which included a Martin Penrose goal and three O’Neill points saw them dramatically overhaul the visitors.
