Cork prevail in close encounter
Cork 1-11 Dublin 1-10
Cork moved off the bottom of Division 1A as they battled for a one-point victory over 14-man Dublin.
The Rebels plundered their first league points in a fight to the finish at Pairc Ui Rinn. League debutant Donnacha O’Connor flicked home Cork’s goal after seven minutes. But Declan Lally’s toe-poked goal finish helped the Dubs trail by three at the break – 1-03 to 1-06.
Mossie Quinn brought the sides back level at 1-08 apiece. Dublin finished strongly despite midfielder Denis Bastick’s sending-off on the hour for a second bookable offence. However Cork held on with Kevin O’Sullivan top-scoring (0-03 (2f)).
