2005 champions Armagh nailed down their first points of this season’s National League at Crossmaglen.

Winless after their opening two games, the Orchard men burst into a 2-01 to no score lead. Stephen Kernan (5 minutes) and Stephen McDonnell (11) bagged goals.

Against the wind, Galway fought back with successive points from Derek Savage, Cormac Bane and Michael Meehan and Savage netted shortly before the break for a 1-04 to 2-05 deficit.

Armagh captain Paul McGrane and Meehan traded goals early in the second half, but eight unanswered points – McConville (0-08) hit five of them – saw the hosts to victory.
