Kilkenny top table after win v Laois

Champions Kilkenny raced to the top of NHL Division 1B table as they overcame Laois at Nowlan Park.

Lining out at full forward, Richie Power proved to be the Cats’ key man, scoring 0-13.

Laois corner forward Damien Culleton netted in the eighth-minute for a surprise 1-02 to 0-02 lead. But Kilkenny turned around with a 1-10 to 1-06 buffer, aided by a goal from Eddie Brennan.

Three frees from James Young helped cut the deficit to two for Laois early in the second half. However, seven points without reply – Power landed five of them – saw Kilkenny push clear.
