Meath to meet Offaly in final of O’Byrne Cup

Meath will meet Offaly in the final of football’s O’Byrne Cup after the sides scored victories over Dublin and Laois respectively.

Offaly beat Laois 0-15 to 0-10 in an impressive display at O’Moore Park.

The sides were level at half time at eight points apiece, but Offaly were quick out of the blocks in the second half with a point from Alan McNamee, and a further push led them to a four point lead after 16 minutes.

Laois scored after 19 minutes of the latter half with a point from Colm Kelly, but Offaly were stronger over the final quarter to take the victory.

Meanwhile, in Parnell Park, Meath took a deserving win over Dublin, even after Seamus Kenny was sent off with 12 minutes to go.

They led 0-8 to 0-6 at half time, but with Meath’s dominance around the mid-field with the superb Barry Lynch, and a missed chance from Dublin’s Ger O’Meara, the final scoreline was Meath 0-16 to Dublin’s 1-11.
