GAA 'shocked' at PSNI Casement Park investigation

The GAA have released a statement this afternoon admitting their bemusement on learning that the PSNI is conducting an investagtion as the Casement Park GAA grounds in Belfast.

The Association said that it had "no prior knowledge" of the operation and has not been informed of the reason or justification for the investigation, other than an indication that it relates to "allegations received by the authorities in regard to an individual and alleged activities totally unrelated to the GAA."

The statement added: "The GAA also understands the concerns of the GAA community as two prominent members in Derry were questioned in a high profile manner by the PSNI and released without charge earlier in the week.

"The Association has confirmed that it has reported the matter at the highest level to the Dublin Government."
