Royals reveal football selectors

Jody Devine, Andy McEntee and Benny Reddy will provide back-up to new Meath football manager Eamonn Barry for the 2006 season.

Barry, who was appointed as successor to Sean Boylan in September, had the trio confirmed as his backroom team at the latest meeting of the Meath County Committee.

Ballinlough man Devine was a much-used player in the Boylan era, and has managed the Meath Green Star team previously.

Dunboyne's McEntee, whose brother is former Royals great Gerry, won an All-Ireland medal in 1988 under Boylan. Reddy, the current Meath Under-21 boss, will act as team trainer.

Trial games are currently being held ahead of Meath's first challenge match on November 27. The fixture against Louth, ironically Meath's opponent in the opening round of the 2006 Leinster SFC, will mark the opening of new pitch at Lordship.

Barry's charges also face Longford at Newtowncashel on December 3.
