Moran is new Mayo manager
Mickey Moran was appointed as the new manager of the Mayo senior football team at a county board meeting last night.
The former Donegal, Sligo and Derry supremo takes over out west nearly three months after John Maughan annouced his resignation.
Moran's long-time coaching assistant John Morrison has also been taken on by Mayo, who used a five-man sub-committee in their managerial search.
The duo, reportedly the Mayo county board's third choice ticket after initial targets John O'Mahony and Brian McEniff ruled themselves out, have been signed up for a two-year term.
Retired school teacher Moran, who helped Donegal to an All-Ireland quarter-final in 2002, ended a three-year spell with his native Derry last month.
The Oak Leafers, under Moran's baton, reached the last four of the 2004 All-Ireland championship before losing to eventual winners Kerry.
