Spot kick decides All-Ireland Football Sevens

A penalty from Kevin Niblock decided the destiny of yesterday's All-Ireland Football Sevens title at Dublin's Kilmacud Crokes club.

Niblock, who suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury two seasons ago, struck the only successful kick of a penalty shoot-out as Antrim side St Gall's dramatically defeated Castleblaney Faughs of Monaghan.

A late Kevin McGourty point saw St Gall's, who bowed out of their county championship at the semi-final stage last week, tie up the game at 2-11 to 3-08 right on the final whistle.

McGourty then earned hero status when he saved all three of Faughs' penalties leaving Niblock to convert his kick and send the title north of the border.
