McIntyre re-appointed by Offaly

Offaly have re-appointed John McIntyre as the county's hurling manager for the 2006 season.

Offaly have re-appointed John McIntyre as the county's hurling manager for the 2006 season.

The decision was expected after Galway-based journalist McIntyre led the Faithfuls through the All-Ireland qualifiers and guaranteed their top-tier survival with a win in the relegation semi-final over Antrim.

McIntyre, a former county player with Tipperary, also helped Offaly retain their National League status as a Division One side with the Division Two final of a gallant Carlow.

McIntyre's second year at the helm should see ex-Offaly star Joachim Kelly join him at the managerial team.

Kelly is a former manager of the Wexford hurlers.
