Tribesmen ready for Rebel test

The Tribesmen, with Peter Ford in his first season in charge, did well to wrestle the Nestor Cup away from Mayo, but have not really impressed to date.

Their Under-21s certainly did when edged Down for the All-Ireland title back in May, and if they are to repeat their Sam Maguire Cup successes of 1998 and 2001 in the near future, this year may be too early.

Joe Bergin is a welcome inclusion at wing forward after a lengthy knee injury, while three-time All-star Michael Donnellan, a hero of old, has also been passed fit to play.

Meanwhile Cork manager Billy Morgan seems to have pulled together a side with a decent backbone.

James Masters has impressed with 1-9 so far this summer, while Brendan Jer O'Sullivan and John Hayes were also on top form against Sligo last weekend. Graham Canty, Anthony Lynch and captain Eoin Sexton rarely had a bad day out at the back.
