Galway will contest next month's All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling final after a last-minute goal saw them edge reigning champions Cork, 1-15 to 0-14, in Thurles today.

Kieran Rabbitte's side were level six times with the Rebels in an end-to-end semi-final, but a frantic final push saw corner forward Trevor Kavanagh force home the winning goal for the Tribesmen.

Midfielder Kevin Hartnett, who struck a goal in Cork's Munster Under-21 win during the week, and corner forward Maurice O'Sullivan took on the brunt of the Rebels' scoring, while former minor starlet Kenneth Burke bagged eight points for the victors.

Galway, who lifted their last Intermediate crown in 2002, meet Leinster champions Wexford on September 3 to decide this year's championship.
