Limerick book quarter-final spot
Laois 1-9 Limerick 2-15
Joe McKenna's Limerick hurlers have claimed a spot in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals tonight thanks to a nine-point defeat of Laois at O'Moore Park.
In truth, the Shannonsiders failed to impress - hitting 13 wides - but were steered through by goals from skipper Ollie Moran and substitute Patrick Kirby in either half.
Laois, beaten 2-11 to 2-22 by Galway last time out in the qualifiers' Group A, kept in touch through the sharpshooting of wing forward James Young (1-5), but the O'Moore men managed just three points in a poor second half display.
