Magee’s return gives Caffrey midfield option

Dublin Boss Paul Caffrey has been handed a selection conundrum ahead of the Leinster-final clash with Laois following the recent return from Australia of midfielder Darren Magee.

The Kilmacud Crokes man has not featured in any Dublin squad this year but is said to be reasonably fit. He has been playing with Sydney club Michael Cusacks - alongside Colm Parkinson of Laois.

It also appears that Magee – the younger brother of Jonny - plans to leave for Boston next week to play with the Wolf Tones club over there. However, he has indicated that if he gets a call from Caffrey in the next few days he would stay.

Midfield remains a problem for Dublin even at this stage of the Championship with the versatile Shane Ryan filling the role as Ciarán Whelan's right-hand man.

Laois boast one of the tidiest midfields around, with Padraig Clancy ably assisted by Noel Garvan.

It remains to be seen if ‘Pillar’ will consider drafting in reinforcements for next month's provincial decider.
