Cork get their Munster football championship campaign under way today with a trip to Ennis to face Clare, who have already an outing under their belts.
The Banner have already taken Waterford’s scalp and Cork will not be complacent, having learnt their lesson from the 1997 clash when Martin Daly scored a sensational last minute goal which gave Clare a one-point win over a highly-rated Rebel outfit.
Cork boss Billy Morgan has handed senior championship debuts to James Masters, John Hayes and Fintan Gould for today’s encounter.
The trio come into a side that sees six changes from the team that succumbed to Fermanagh in the qualifiers last year.
Out go Sean O'Brien, Micheal O'Sullivan, Ciaran O'Sullivan, Colin Crowley, Colin Corkery and Alan Cronin and in come Niall Geary, Anthony Lynch, Masters, Hayes, Gould and Micheal Ó Cróinin.
Kevin O'Dwyer lines out between the sticks and Geary replaces O'Brien at right corner-back. Skipper Sean Levis is at full-back, with Anthony Lynch at centre-back.
Derek Kavanagh partners Graham Canty at midfield, with Masters on the right wing, Conor McCarthy leading the attack and Nicholas Murphy on the left flank.
Hayes, Gould and Ó Cróinin make up a new-look full-forward line at the expense of Crowley, Corkery and Cronin.
Clare boss John Kennedy has made two changes from the side that saw off the challenge of the Decies.
Groin injury victims Ronan Slattery and Stephen Hickey return to the starting line-up for the clash against the Rebels.
Slattery, who was sprung from the bench during the victory over Waterford, comes in at left half-back. Mark O'Connell moves back to the left corner and Brendan Moloney loses his place.
Hickey replaces David Nealon, who retired with a leg injury during the clash with the Decies.
The Rebels are favourites to advance to the Munster final against the winners of next week’s clash between Limerick and Kerry.
